So this week was kinda big

For those of you who missed it, there was a world wide missionary broadcast this week that changed a couple important things. For one, the daily schedule is way, way more flexible. For another, there are only four (but really 5) key indicators, and missions cannot set their own key indicators (For example, in the Sweden Stockholm Mission we would count the number of contacts we get each day. Emphasis on would.). We only count Baptisms (and confirmations, but they should be the same number. If you have different numbers for these two something's wrong), Baptismal Dates, Investigators in Sacrament Meeting, and New Investigators. So that's pretty big. Also the flexible schedule is super, super nice. Lunch got shortened to half an hour, but bed-time became any time between 9:30 and 10:30 and the time from 9:00 to 9:30 is specifically for journal writing and teeth brushing. There's no more nightly planning, it got moved to the morning. In all, I'm a really big fan of the changes. Really big fan.

Also, we got Transfer Calls! I'm transferring out of Lund to Västra Frölunda, which includes the heart of Göteborg. I am super exited for that, Göteborg is a very cool city, I hear the apartment is super nice, I'm a YSA missionary so I'll get to work with a lot of cool Swedes my age, it should be fun. Also, Göteborska sounds super cool, considered by most missionaries to sound the most "Swedish" of all the dialects. Unfortunately, I have had several people I contact on the streets ask me if I'm speaking Danish. I must have been called to the wrong mission or something.

Elder Brady Daines was on the missionary broadcast, that was super cool! I took a picture then forgot my camera, so I'll send that picture later. They had a before-broadcast montage of missionaries in the MTC teaching and stuff, and Elder Brady Daines made it! My cousin's famous! Every missionary in the whole world saw him!

Well, like I said, I didn't bring my camera with me so no pictures from that, and for some reason this computer isn't picking up my phone so I cannot get pictures off of that, so tyvarr  no pictures this week from me.

One last request, my area I'm transferring to has someone named Anthony with a baptismal date for Feb. 4th. I don't know anything about Anthony, but pray for him.

Finaly, does anyone know if you can make Swedish Cream with jello instead of Gelatin? I havn't been able to find pure Gelatin, so I'm wondering if strawberry jello works as well.

And to end it off, yes it was my birthday and no I didn't do anything about it.

That's about all I can think of right now, so good buy!

Well, it's been a while. My last two emails have been a little sub-par, so I'll try to make this one better. Where to begin...

The Tri-Pan is super fun, I've had six companions over my four transfers. I know what's up with the Tri-Pan. It's actually super nice to be in a trio. We contact a lot more in less time, we can visit single ladies, we can afford to buy nice food, I like it.

While we're talking about food, I really like Swedish food. The pastries here are super good, lots of buttery breads with jam and chocolate, and they eat jam with meat, and they put french fries on pizza, and life just tastes super yummy. Unfortunately there is nothing hot. Even the Sriracha sauce is watered down or something.

This Saturday Lund had a baptism! Kind of. There's a divorced family with an unbaptized nine year old daughter, and this week she got baptized, so technically she's a convert baptism. But ya, her baptism was super cool though. And the fika afterwards was super good.

Something I would like to change about my area now is the weather. There is no snow. That makes me sad. The weather has been a solid 4 Celsius all week and a little foggy, sometimes a little windy, I mean, can't I have snow? Is that to much to ask? My first winter without snow is my first winter in Sweden? Isn't that a little backwards?

Now for pictures,

Some weird squirrel-human-something architecture in the Cathedral in Lund. I would feel bad about taking pictures of other religions places of worship, but the Cathedral rents out as a night club so I didn't feel that bad.

Not a lot of time today...

Know I've been doing good this week. For the first time in five months I purchased Ice Cream, so how could I be doing bad? Happy birthday to Krysti, you're the best. I have to fly because one of my companions has to interview a nine year old for a baptism, and it's up in Kävlinge. Hejdå!

It happened.

I got a coat :(

It's a bit of a long story that begins a long, long time ago...

Early August, 2016:
I was packing for my mission, and made the decision to get a coat in Sweden. That way I save luggage room and I can get a nice Swedish coat!

Late September 2016:
I arrive in Sweden and get sent to the southernmost area there is. It is not that cold at all, I'm doing just fine with a standard white shirt and tie.

Mid October 2016:
It's a little colder, but not much. My companion has convinced me to get a jacket (Not having a jacket was distracting everyone we contacted), so I bought the cheapest windbreaker I could find at a second-hand store. Didn't do much, but it looked like it did. Also, Elder Shanks arrives from the MTC, also to be trained in Lund by Elder Murri.

November 2016:
It's still getting colder, but yet to be cold. My windbreaker is plenty fine, most of the time it's unzipped.

December 2016:
Still colder, but not cold. I wore gloves and a beanie one day, but took them off as soon as we walked outside and stuffed them into my bag. My new companion, Elder Fawcett, starts to pressure me a little into buying a winter coat.

January 1st, 2017:
Elder Shanks goes home and his companion comes to tri-pan with us! However, Elder Murri also joins the "You should get a coat" team (Founded by my dad, member-ed by three of my companions, the senior couple in Lund, several Swedes on the street, and several families in the ward). Also, winter sales start, so almost everything is super cheap.

January 2nd, 2017:
To capitalize on winter sales we go to the mall in Malmö. I finally cave in a get a nice(?) winter coat from a Swedish brand that was 50% off and very, very, very, unnecessarily warm. I'll attach a picture of the bag it was put in.

The end

Well, getting a coat and the events that happened the 1st are about the biggest things that happened this week. Also, in PMG is a super good personal study idea that I highly recomend, it's the one about D&C 20 in the end of the chapter about the Book of Mormon. Good stuff.
